Dr. Aran Ravishanker grew up in Canberra and completed his dental training at Charles Sturt University in New South Wales. During his training, he also had the opportunity to provide volunteer dental care to communities in remote villages in Nepal, an experience that contributed to his interest in providing thoughtful and accessible patient care.
After graduating, Dr. Aran spent several years practising in Newcastle and surrounding regional areas of New South Wales. His experience has included working across both hospital dental services and private practices, giving him exposure to a broad range of patients and dental needs.
Within the hospital setting, Dr. Aran cared for patients with complex medical conditions, including patients affected by oral cancer and other health conditions with implications for their dental care. His private-practice experience has also given him the opportunity to work extensively with contemporary dental technology, including digital scanning and digitally designed dental crowns.
Dr. Aran has particular interests in restorative dentistry, preventive care and oral surgery, and continues to develop his knowledge through professional education. He has also undertaken further learning in areas including oral surgery and endodontics.
A calm and friendly manner is central to Dr. Aran’s approach to dentistry. He understands that some patients may feel nervous about dental treatment and takes the time to explain findings and treatment choices clearly, answer questions and help patients feel comfortable before proceeding with care.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Aran enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking and taking on new challenges. He has been learning to fly and, since moving closer to the coast, has also been learning to surf.
