Dr. Leo Ham is an experienced dental surgeon with a particular focus on oral surgery and dental implantology. He completed his Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours at the University of Queensland before undertaking extensive postgraduate education in Australia and the United Kingdom.
His further training includes a Master of Clinical Dentistry in Oral Surgery from Griffith University and a Master of Science in Dental Implantology from Aston University in the UK, as well as postgraduate study in advanced dental implantology. He also holds memberships with the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
Throughout his career, Dr. Leo has worked across metropolitan and regional practices and has developed extensive experience in surgical and restorative dental care. His clinical interests include dental implants, complex dental extractions, wisdom tooth removal, bone grafting and other procedures associated with implant and surgical dentistry.
Education also remains an important part of his professional life. Dr. Leo is a Clinical Supervisor at Griffith University, where he is involved in the teaching and mentoring of dental students. He also continues to participate in professional education and maintains involvement with organisations related to oral surgery and implant dentistry.
Dr. Leo takes a calm, patient-centred approach to care and understands that surgical dental treatment can sometimes feel daunting. He places particular importance on discussing findings and treatment options clearly, answering questions and ensuring patients understand what to expect before proceeding.
At Varsity Smiles, Dr. Leo provides visiting surgical dental care, allowing appropriate patients to access additional oral surgery and implant expertise within the practice.
